In WEAV(3)D, we invented an analog three-dimensional weaving process. This innovation directly responds to the central criticism of the prevailing trend towards an extensively digital approach in material exploration and tool usage. We are concerned about the potential impact of these digital processes in both the design field and throughout society at large. This phenomenon contributes to a noticeable decline in designers' sensitivity towards hands-on engagement with materials and production processes. Simultaneously, consumers are experiencing a gradual loss of their understanding of how products are manufactured

Within the production process, our machine braids threads into a 3-D lattice structure as opposed to interlacing them in the conventional planar way. This approach enabled us to fabricate a block made of braided yarn mesh. Afterwards, Bioplastic hardens the threads, resulting in a stiff material. The outcome is a lightweight and natural fibre-based product with potential applications as a structural material for diverse purposes.
