Description:

The material study visualises the shaping force of different water currents. This means that the object itself is a materialisation of a natural force, the vortex. It confronts the balance between randomness and control.

The liquid wax solidifies in water. Since the object mirrors changes in the vortex it can be controlled to a certain degree by adjusting the temperature, quantity or turning speed. Thereby the designer becomes a co-creator in the process with a natural force, which always inhabits an element of unpredictability.

The simplicity and singularity of the paraffin way set a focus on the evolution of the abstract shape rather than the material. By adding controlling factors it can be reproduces and compared. The context and photos as well as the unique objects tell the story of shifting forces and their corresponding shape.
